All COVID-19 travel restrictions removed in the UK

The government has removed the remaining COVID-19 international travel restrictions for all passengers from 4am on Friday 18th March.

If you came to Buckswood Overseas Summer School (BOSS) in 2021, you probably had to take 5 PCR tests - 1 to arrive in the UK, a day 2 test in the UK, a day 5 test in the UK, a day 8 test in the UK and another one to fly home. Let's not get started on antigen tests as each student and member of staff were doing them almost everyday so it's impossible to know how many of those tests we did! But no more! To enter the UK now, tests, like the passenger locator form are no longer required!

In a nutshell:

  • As of 4am on Friday 18th March, tests and passenger locator forms are no longer required to enter the UK

  • Any remaining hotel quarantines will be removed from the end of March, meaning that the UK is one of the first major economies to end all COVID-19 international travel rules

  • However, contingency plans have been put in place to manage any future variants of concern (VoCs)
