We are very lucky and happy to have inherited a bubble of students who have been living together since at least January 4th from the mothership that is Buckswood School. Neil, BOSS Director and Sarah, who has just about done every job there is to do at BOSS over the last 8 years, were taking COVID tests every three days for 2 weeks in the build up to course and were able to be integrated into this bubble and since we will have the same students and staff for the whole duration of the course, the course is about as normal as it can be during these current times. Staff and all students are being tested twice a week on Sundays and Wednesdays and we are following COVID protocols relevant to our situation.
All of our students are absolutely wonderful and it is so nice to be back in our BOSS uniforms after 19 months without students, and since they are all students of Buckswood School studying for their GCSEs, A-Levels and IB, etc. we’ve been trying out some new things. Things such as non-English language specific classes with more of a focus on real-life, functional project based learning, study skills and mindfulness hour. But still – we’d say that everyone’s favourite summer school game, capture the flag, has been everyone’s favourite thing so far.
We’re only two days into this course but already the group is strong and will only get stronger over the next three weeks as we will literally spend almost every second of every day together in our big massive “household”!
BOSS TV episode 20 is made up of Instagram live videos that we have been making over the last few days as due to teaching and activity leading for the next three weeks, time isn’t what it used to be so please excuse the rushed nature of this episode!
Finally, if it seems like Neil is talking to himself, he either is or is talking to viewers on Instagram who are commenting and saying “hi”!
