What ages do you accept at BOSS?
We welcome students aged 8 to 17 years old. Students are grouped by age for lessons, accommodation, and activities.
Where do the students come from?
BOSS is an international English summer school. Every year, we welcome children and teenagers from many different countries, giving everyone the chance to make friends and practise English with different nationalities.
How many hours of English lessons are there each week?
Students have 20 hours of lessons per week, including English classes and leadership training. All students will prepare for the Trinity College London GESE exam and the Leadership Foundations Young Leader Award.
Are the teachers qualified?
Yes. All our teachers are trained and experienced in teaching English as a foreign language. They use modern methods to keep lessons interactive and fun.
What is included in the course fees?
Course fees include lessons, accommodation, meals, excursions, activity programmes, entrance tickets, laundry, and BOSS souvenirs such as a t-shirt, diary, bucket hat and wristband.
What is not included?
Airport transfers, academies (such as tennis), early or late arrivals, unaccompanied minor service, and specific room requests are not included in the standard fee.
How safe is the campus?
Safety is a priority. We have excellent staff-to-student ratios, 24-hour supervision, secure houses, and experienced managers living on campus.
How are students supervised during excursions?
For ages 8–12, supervision is 1 adult per 12 students, and they are always accompanied. For ages 13–17, supervision is 1 adult per 15 students, and some semi-supervised time may be allowed with parental permission.
Can my child bring a mobile phone?
Yes, but with limits. Phones are allowed at break and meal times, but never during lessons or activities. On Mondays, students do not use phones at all.
What type of accommodation is provided?
Students live in comfortable boarding houses with shared bedrooms. Most rooms have 2 beds, with some singles and some larger rooms for younger children.
How are roommates chosen?
We place students with others of a similar age and always mix nationalities so English is spoken.
What is the food like?
We serve freshly prepared meals every day, with healthy options, vegetarian and vegan dishes, and alternatives for allergies or dietary needs.
What should my child bring?
Students should bring everyday clothes, toiletries, sportswear, a reusable water bottle, and a flask for hot drinks. A full packing checklist is sent after booking.
Do you provide laundry?
Yes, laundry is included and is usually done once a week.
When should we book flights?
Only book flights after BOSS confirms availability. We will then send you travel guidelines for arrival and departure times.
Do you offer airport transfers?
Yes, transfers are available from major airports. The cost depends on the airport and whether your child is travelling as an unaccompanied minor.
What happens if my child is unwell?
Minor illnesses are treated on campus. For anything more serious, students are taken to a doctor or hospital. Parents are contacted immediately.
What is the maximum class size?
Our maximum class size is 16 students, ensuring plenty of attention and support from the teacher.
Will my child receive a certificate?
Yes, every student receives a BOSS certificate at the end of their course. Students will also receive an official electronic certificate from Trinity College London and the Leadership Skills Foundation (if they pass!).
What happens on a typical day?
A day usually includes English lessons in the morning, sports or creative activities in the afternoon, and evening entertainment such as discos, talent shows, or team games. Excursions take place four times a week.
Is there Wi-Fi on campus?
Yes, Wi-Fi is available in common areas and boarding houses.
Can students stay longer than two weeks?
Yes, many students stay for 3–6 weeks, and we recommend a longer stay for the best learning experience.
