Spring Success at BOSS: A Spring Course to Remember

From 30th March to 19th April, we welcomed students from around the world to Buckswood Overseas Summer School (BOSS) UK for our annual Spring Course. And what a course it was. As educators, we often dream of that perfect experience—happy students, happy staff, happy parents, happy group leaders, and happy partners. This spring, that dream became a reality.

The feedback we received, the energy on campus, and the genuine sense of joy and connection throughout the course made it one of our most successful to date. As we reflect on what made this course so special, a few things stand out:

  • The smaller group size, as is typical of our Spring Courses, allowed everyone to really connect. Students got to know one another, and meaningful relationships formed between students and staff alike. The atmosphere was personal, relaxed, and warm.

  • With fewer students, everything felt more efficient. Room inspections were a breeze. Mealtimes became opportunities for relaxed conversations. Excursion travel was faster, smoother, and more enjoyable. This slower pace created more room for shared experiences and deeper engagement.

  • We were also incredibly lucky with the weather. The sun shone almost every day, giving our students the impression that England is always this sunny! It made our activities even more enjoyable and allowed our beautiful campus to shine—especially with daffodils and cherry blossoms in full bloom.

  • 100% of our staff were returners. That meant we began the course as a cohesive team, ready to hit the ground running. And 100% of our students? Simply incredible. Enthusiastic, inclusive, kind, funny, open-minded, and engaged. They created a culture that was uplifting and respectful from day one.

  • Our students’ parents were just as wonderful—supportive, positive, and trusting. We had minimal contact during the course, and when we did hear from parents, it was to express appreciation and gratitude. We’re incredibly thankful to every family who chose BOSS this spring.

  • There were no behavioural issues, no complaints, and—believe it or not—not a single call to the emergency phone. Airport transfers ran smoothly, students arrived on time, and our activities and excursions went exactly to plan. It was a course where everything just... worked.

  • Most importantly, we had fun. Real, shared, meaningful fun. Students and staff spent every day laughing, learning, and making memories. From morning inspections to evening activities, the energy never dipped. The joy was constant.

We captured lots of this energy and will be sharing highlights across our social media over the coming months. Be sure to follow us for a glimpse into life at BOSS and what we think makes our school so special.

To everyone who made our Spring Course such a success—students, staff, parents, agents, and partners—thank you. From the bottom of our hearts.
