BOSS 2027 is Here! Find Out What's New
2026 was a year to remember at BOSS. Our students filled our campus with energy, kindness and plenty of laughter, and every single one of them helped make BOSS the special place it is.
We have spent the weeks since planning 2027, and we can't wait to share it with you. Our website and brochure are now fully updated with everything you need: programmes, dates, prices and our booking form.
Here is a closer look at what's new.
Your BOSS Portfolio
Every student now leaves BOSS with a Portfolio: their achievements, all in one place.
It includes:
a BOSS Certificate for their course
a Trinity GESE Certificate from their spoken English exam, taken on campus
the Young Leader Award from the Leadership Skills Foundation
an academic report from their teacher, with progress and next steps
a graduation photo with their class
their BOSS Passport
And it doesn't stop when they go home. Years later, BOSS will write references and support personal statements for former students on request.
The BOSS Passport
The BOSS Passport rewards students for trying something new or achieving something. Staff award stamps in six areas:
Social
Creativity
Activity
Exploration
Learning
Personal Growth
It gives every student a clear, fun way to see how much they have grown during their stay.
BOSS Pathways
When they book, every student chooses one of six Pathways. Sessions run three times a week in small groups, led by specialist staff, alongside English lessons and the full activity programme.
Sport: team sports, skills and match play
Active: fitness, adventure and games that keep you moving
Creativity: art, design and making, with work to take home
Performance: drama, music and dance, building to a show
Wellbeing: mindfulness, yoga and calm, confident habits
Strategy: chess, puzzles and problem solving games
New Weekly Leadership Projects
Leadership has always been at the heart of BOSS. For 2027, each week has its own student led project, planned and delivered by the students themselves:
BOSS Gallery: curate and host an art exhibition
BOSS Takeover: run part of the school day
BOSS Media: film, photograph and report on BOSS life
BOSS Wellness: plan activities that help others feel good
BOSS Bosses: turn £25 into a profit
BOSS Planet: an environmental project with real results
BOSS Charity: raise money for a local cause
BOSS Future Skills
Alongside the projects, students build the skills they will need beyond school through debates, event planning and the BOSS Big 50: fifty short challenges to complete during their course, open to every age.
All of this sits within 5 hours of leadership training a week, working towards the Young Leader Award.
New Weekly British Themed Activities
At BOSS, students don't just learn English. They live it. Each week of summer now includes a British themed highlight:
Week 1: Great British Quiz
Week 2: Highland Games
Week 3: British Culture Night
Week 4: BOSS Afternoon Tea
Week 5: The BOSS Ceilidh
Week 6: British Sports Afternoon
Week 7: BOSS Village Fete
BOSS Starters, BOSS Risers and BOSS Future
Our students are now grouped by age, so every stage of the BOSS experience fits the child.
BOSS Starters (8 to 11): a gentle first taste of independence, with closer supervision and strong foundations in English
BOSS Risers (12 to 14): more freedom, more adventure and first steps into leadership
BOSS Future (15 to 17): building their Portfolio, references and the skills for life after school

A Proud Year for BOSS
In 2026 we were inspected by the British Council and received strengths in 12 out of 15 areas. It is the best inspection result in our history, and it puts BOSS in a stronger place than ever. More on this in the coming months.

The BOSS Spring Experience
28th March to 17th April 2027
£1,195 per week, minimum 1 week
Booking deadline: Sunday 28th February 2027
Summer School
27th June to 14th August 2027
£1,350 per week, minimum 2 weeks
Booking deadline: Thursday 27th May 2027
How to Book
Bookings officially open on Monday 2nd November 2026.
Our booking form is available now, so you are welcome to complete it at any time to secure your place early. Confirmation documents will be sent from the week beginning Monday 2nd November.

Buckswood Overseas Summer School (BOSS) is based on the beautiful Buckswood campus in Guestling, near Hastings, East Sussex, England. Since 2011, we have welcomed students aged 8 to 17 from around the world to learn English, build confidence, and experience life in the UK countryside. Our accredited courses combine English language learning, leadership training, and cultural experiences, creating a safe and friendly environment where every student can learn, grow, and belong.
